Three Rivers Community Band Festival
"Festival Band"
2009 marks the 6th annual Three Rivers Community Band Festival. We once again have a Festival Band comprised of musicians from over 30 bands in the greater Pittsburgh region. The musicians will rehearse for the first time the morning of Festival under the baton of Elisabeth Heath-Charles, Director of Bands at Robert Morris University and Music Director and Conductor of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra.
Who are the musicians of the 2009 Three Rivers Community Band Festival "Festival Band" ?
- 75 Musicians from southwestern Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio
- Over 1900 years of playing experience.
- Length of Time Musicians
have been playing
for:
- 0-5 years: 1 [1%]
- 5-10 years: 5 [7%]
- 10-20 years: 20 [27%]
- 20-30 years: 13 [17%]
- 30-40 years: 11 [15%]
- over 40 years 26 [35%]
- They play in over 30 community bands in the Western Pennsylvania region. (see below)
- 48% are new to the Festival Band
- 48% are not members of one of the other performing bands at this years Festival.
- 66% learned to play their instrument in the western PA area, while the other 33% learned to play all over the country
- 36 have only played with the
band they are currently in, while
the rest have played in at least 2 community bands.
- 13 are
now or were school music or band teachers
- 52 learned to play through a public school program [69%]
- Geography - they come from 48 towns, cities and neighborhoods. (map)
