The members of the East Winds Symphonic Band come from diverse musical backgrounds.  Some of our members only recently returned to their instruments after not playing for many years when they joined, some started a new instrument as an adult and were looking for an ensemble to further enjoy the music experience, still others are accomplished musicians who want to perform in a fine wind ensemble.  A love of making music, the ability to read music, and possession of your own instrument are the only requirements.

Our band welcomes potential new members throughout the year, provided we have an opening for your instrument.  We do have some openings; however, many of our sections are currently full.   For sections that are filled, we maintain a waiting list of interested musicians to notify when openings occur.  Instruments for which we presently have a strong need are listed on our main home page. Please contact our conductor to determine the current situation for your instrument.

The band rehearses most Monday evenings from 8-10pm at Trinity Christian School in Forest Hills and performs eight to twelve concerts each year throughout the Pittsburgh region.   Musicians wear "concert black" for formal concerts, and an EWSB polo shirt for the summer concerts.

If you are interested in joining East Winds or would like to learn more about the available opportunities, please contact our conductor, Susan Sands at  conductor@ewsb.org  or 412-741-1673
