Lauver joined the East Winds Symphonic Band in the Fall of 2008, and he
has been playing an instrument since 1993. His
wife Rie introduced him to EWSB. Eric holds multiple
degrees from
Dusquesne University - Bachelor of Science, Music Education;
Master of Music, Saxophone Performance. He is currently the
4th and 5th Grade Band Director in the Bethel Park
School District and a
member of the Moon Area High School marching band staff. He has also
begun a
small side business doing audio and video production and all things

other events.
Eric was born in Charleston WV and grew up in Williamsport,
MD and attended Williamsport Elementary
School, Springfield Middle School and Williamsport High School where he
performed in the Marching, Symphonic and Jazz Bands as well as being a
member of the Show Choir and in the cast of the school's musical.
Eric's family is also musical with his wife Rie who is also a
member of
the band, his dad played tuba and his mom played the drums in "Kiltie

Like many people Eric continued to play his instruments after high
school and as noted above pursued degrees in Music Education and
performance when he got to college. He says the motivating
factors to play and instrument is that he was enamored with music and
in particular the saxophone. When asked about his general philosophy in
regard to musical performance, he noted "Music is essential to
humanity; As an educator, I
want to make sure that we are creating a generation that appreciates
music, whether as a performer or a spectator."
Eric is a member of
